General Info

Kusanya Cafe sits comfortably in the heart of Chicago at 825 W 69th St, Chicago, IL 60621, and it feels like the kind of neighborhood cafe that becomes part of your routine after just one visit. From the moment you walk in, there’s a calm, welcoming energy that makes it easy to slow down, grab a seat, and actually enjoy your time. It’s casual without feeling careless, and polished without losing its warmth.

As a cafe, Kusanya Cafe shines most during breakfast and lunch hours. The menu is thoughtful and approachable, offering familiar favorites done with care. One of the highlights is the breakfast sandwich-simple, satisfying, and clearly made with attention to flavor and balance. Pair that with an iced coffee, especially on warmer days, and it feels like a small daily luxury rather than just another caffeine stop.

For something a little more comforting, the grits with cheese and cinnamon stand out. They’re rich, smooth, and unexpectedly memorable, the kind of dish that makes people talk about it later and bring friends back to try it. On the lighter side, the Mango Summer Salad adds a fresh, bright option to the menu, offering a nice contrast and showing that the kitchen knows how to keep things seasonal and well-rounded.

Lunch service flows easily here, whether you’re stopping in solo, meeting friends, or coming by with a group. The space works well for casual gatherings, and the atmosphere never feels rushed. Practical details are handled smoothly too-credit cards are accepted, and the wheelchair-accessible entrance makes the cafe welcoming for everyone.

Kusanya Cafe also earns positive reviews for how it blends food, service, and community. It doesn’t try to be flashy or overcomplicated. Instead, it focuses on consistency, comfort, and quality, which is exactly what many people look for when choosing a cafe they’ll return to again and again. For locals and visitors alike, this Chicago location offers a genuine, relaxed dining experience that feels both dependable and personal.

“ Kusanya Café is truly a hidden gem that feels like home the moment you walk through the door. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and filled with positive energy. The staff go above and beyond they don’t just learn your order, they take the time to get to know you. Their friendliness and attention to detail make every visit feel personal and genuine. The food is always fresh and delicious, l can’t get enough of the baked oatmeal, it’s simply the best! Whether you’re stopping in for a quick coffee and breakfast or staying for lunch, Kusanya has you covered. It’s a one-stop shop for good food, great coffee, and even better vibes. If you have the time, I highly recommend taking a seat, pulling out your journal or laptop, and just soaking it all in. Enjoy the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, the sound of good conversation, and maybe even the scent of flowers nearby. Kusanya Café is more than a café it’s a community space. ”

“ What a delightful oasis of hospitality and good vibes ! - Very generous drink sizes for low prices - I’d never been there before, but staff were super-friendly and welcoming - Met some friends of an overseas friend I hadn’t seen in 10+ years I did think the sandwich fillings/ingredients could be a little thicker Still, I can’t wait till I’m in the area again and can go back ! ”

- Ben Prudek -

“ Solid community focused coffee cafe, lots of great art on the walls and hip hop playing in the background. Coffee and solid and the muffins we got were fantastic. They also have a small selection of breakfast sandwiches available. Incredibly affordable as well. Very much worth the drive down. Only downside is the hours, they're not open on the weekend so you have a small early morning to lunch window to try this gem. ”

- Michael Damato -

“ Amazing establishment, with awesome staff, affordable and delicious food and beverages and immaculate vibes. This gem is an absolute must go spot if in englewood. 10/10 Overall experience!! ”

“ A small gem in the Englewood neighborhood. The staff and atmosphere provide a friendly and comfortable ambiance. A great spot for a quick bite either at breakfast or lunch. We had an iced Chai and a white chocolate cappuccino typical of any coffee shop, what makes the shop memorable the two delicious sandwiches, we had the Big payback and the questioned. The big payback was a perfectly balanced sandwich on a crispy Tuscan bun. The Questlove also perfectly balanced with a bit of kick from the giardiniara on a soft hoagie bun. ”
